Women in Agriculture day was celebrated on 4th December, 2009 in the Directorate of Research on Women in Agriculture, Bhubhaneswar. Dr. K.D Kokate, Deputy Director General, ICAR, Dr.D.P.Ray Vice Chancellor, OUAT, Dr.V.V.Sadamate, Adviser Planning Commission, Government of India, Dr.K.Pradhan, former Vice Chancellor, OUAT, Dr.A.G. Sawanta, former member, Agricultural Scientist Recruitment Board and Dr.Krishna Srinath, Director, DRWA addressed the gathering. Hundred farm women from five adopted villages namely Simore, Kantamalin, Tangibanta, Padasahi and Seula participated in it. One interactive session was also conducted between farm women and scientists of the centre in which Dr. S. N. Swain, General Manager, OMFED, Dr. Hammed Hussain, Expert member, Western Orissa Development Council and Dr. Krishna Srinath, Director addressed the farm women. Dr. Sabita Mishra and Dr. P. K. Sahoo co-coordinated the interactive session. An exhibition was also organized in which local ICAR institutes and OUAT, OMFED and  some development departments put up their stalls  and displayed their exhibits for the benefit of farm women.
